The Institute’s Certified Practicing (CP) system has been established to provide professional recognition for supervisors and manager in the quarry industry and to encourage a national approach to, and the maintenance of, standards of competence and ethics or behavior; it provides recognition of members’ commitment to those standards.
Consistent with the vocational education and training system, The Institute’s CP system accepts a variety of ways by which an individual has gained their knowledge, skills and experience. It requires that individuals have the necessary qualifications, experience and commitment to their maintenance.
A Board of Certified Practitioners has been established to operate the system. This Board can exercise discretion.
The Institute has used powers available in its By-Laws to establish a Certified Practicing Board (CP Board) to oversee the operation of procedures for recognising the professionalism of its supervisors and managers. The Institute may extend the operation of this system to other positions.
The CP Board operates to a detailed set of Rules. These Rules cover all aspects of the CP system and are available for examination by anyone. However, they are couched in legalistic terms for natural justice reasons so they might be read as a last resort by most people.
It should not be construed as The Institute performing the statutory role or as The Institute certifying people as competent, the latter function being the role of Registered Training Organisations.
